Looking like the “Protection Pack’s” long lost brother, the dark grey and blue hues on the “Castlerock” pair seem eerily familiar. Nestling between the current streetwear and Gorpcore aesthetic, this release sits well within the ever-expanding scene that looks to understand the natural world that surrounds our cities. The muted tones of grey suede keep the shoe rooted in nature, while the “Indigo” mesh and sole represent the man-made inspirations behind the shoe. The denim hit on the heel tab is the only obvious reference to the fabric, finished with a small “NB” logo overlay in red. A little GORE-TEX tab pokes out above the “2002R” model number, a reminder of the technical presence that lies hidden inside the shoe. The midsole does well to blend into the upper, reflecting the same clash between the “Castlerock” and “Indigo” shades that are present above.
