Description
A sub-division at Nike you might be hearing a lot from in the coming years is ISPA, a renegade group of designers who are working on some insane footwear that blend computational design with a pleasantly mind-boggling aesthetic. ISPA, or “Improvise, Scavenge, Protect, Adapt”, is the team that not only works with key collaborators on fashion collaborations, but also aims to deliver to elevated concepts that stretch the brand’s current innovations as far as they can. The React Element midsole is one of the tools they’ve been toying around with, and this new mid-cut iteration of the “shoe of the year” brings more of the exposed and functional look ushered in by the 87 model.
It utilizes a lightweight synthetic TPE upper with an exterior ribbon at the ankle on both medial and lateral sides, fortified taping at the collar and heel, a pleasing double-Swoosh branding at the fore-foot, and dotted trail-inspired laces. On the tongue and insole is the ISPA branding which breaks down the acronym, while the logo itself brings in letters seen in other historic logos of the past (for example, the “A” is from the Vapormax logo).
